Marie was born in Hawaii but did not get a chance to actually live there until she was an adult. She now resides in the Bay Area but has lived all over the country from one coast to another as well as points in between. Some places she's lived include Richmond, IN (no, not Virginia, Indiana); San Diego and La Mesa, CA; Princeton, Mount Holly, East Windsor and Plainsboro, NJ; and (though loath to admit it), Levittown, PA.

After majoring in Education, Marie made a complete turnaround and entered the computer field in 1977. She worked many ancient technologies such as card readers and FORTRAN until 1984 when she fell in love with the Apple Macintosh.

As a Macintosh person and an employee of Silicon Beach Software, she contributed to now defunct programs such as Beyond Dark Castle, SuperPaint and Digital Darkroom. In 1994, she moved with her family to the San Franscico Bay area to work on Quicken for Macintosh. When that product was temporarily discontinued, around 1998, she made the transition to being an internet programmer, working on Quicken.com, and wrote middleware that runs on a Windows NT server (but refused to call herself a Windows programmer). In 2003, the Quicken.com and Quicken engineering teams merged and, inspite of her best efforts, she actually did end up with code in Quicken 2005 for Windows. But that doesn't make her a Windows programmer!

Realizing that her career was going in a direction that would only make her miserable, she recently decided to take advantage of a company reshuffling program and quit her job to be a professional photographer. Her current goal is to get into UC Berkeley's School of Journalism to study photojournalism and documentary film-making. In the meantime, she's doing event photography specializing in gymnastics and skating.

Althought no longer technically in the tech field, she still spends an awful lot of time in front of a computer. When not at the computer or out in the field taking pictures, she is ice dancing, reading, watching movies, supporting breastfeeding, working on this web site or watching figure skating.

Somewhere in there she is raising a son, Matthew, and daughter, Maggie, all with massive help from the best husband in the world, Dan.
